reflex camera - Mikaela

A reflex camera may be referred to as an SLR (single lens reflex) or more commonly, DSLR (digital single lens reflex). The only difference between these two are if the camera uses film or if it is digital. The way an SLR camera works is the light from the object enters the camera through the lens and is refracted onto a mirror. The light is then reflected up to a pentaprism where is bounces off a lower mirror and back through the eyepiece or viewfinder window in the correct direction so the photographer may see it. When a picture is taken, the mirror flips upward allowing light to come in.
