ISO is the indication of how sensitive film is to light. Lower ISO numbers result in lower film sensitivity and a finer grain in the shot you are taking. Higher ISO settings are typically used in darker lighting to produce a faster shutter speed. The higher ISO setting also results in a higher noise within the photo.
